Let’s celebrate our Somerset Garden Day on Sunday May 14th 2017!

somerset, garden, day, gardens, cleeve, Alan DownLet’s just put down our tools, take breath and look around us to really appreciate how lucky we are to have gardens and particularly such great gardens in Somerset!

Better still – invite your family, friends and neighbours to join you on this one special Somerset Garden Day.Celebrate Father's Day and Al Fresco Fortnight

Somerset Garden Day has been launched to celebrate the passion for gardens that runs throughout Somerset. There’s no single person or organization behind the idea – it’s a community movement that is being championed by gardening enthusiasts across the county. Somerset has some of the most beautiful gardens and passionate gardeners in the UK and Somerset Garden Day intends to celebrate this.

Our owner- Alan Down- was approached to be an Ambassador – along with others – to help encourage us all to have fun in our gardens on May 14th.

Alan DownAlan Down, Cleeve Nursery owner, gardening expert and journalist, said:

‘Somerset Garden Day is a valuable opportunity for people to celebrate their gardens and their gardening achievements with neighbours, friends and family. Spending more time in our gardens can do wonders for our well-being, helping us to feel happier and healthier. It gives us an opportunity to reconnect with nature and with where our food comes from. Somerset has more public gardens than most other counties and has a brilliant climate in which to garden!

I’m looking forward to celebrating Somerset Garden Day at Cleeve Nursery and also with friends and family in my own garden.’

So whether you visit a garden open to the public or have friends around to yours we do hope that you get involved!

Post your pictures of your celebration – big or small – for us to share.
