Creating a new lawn from scratch is easy if you prepare the site thoroughly. In autumn, when the soil is warm and moist , your turf will establish quickly. Turf can also be laid in spring, but summer drought can put it (and you) under stress, requiring a great deal of watering.

Locally grown turf is available, when weather conditions permit, from early spring until autumn. Pre-ordering for collection at the weekend is advisable.

For an excellent seeded lawn there are two rules: prepare the soil well and never let the soil and seeds dry out.

Lavish care on the seeded area for 6 to 12 weeks and you will be repaid with a lush, well-established lawn. This is why sowing in spring and autumn are favoured for then nature will help you along!

Fresh seed is sold loose for best value and we have 3 main mixtures; with ryegrass for hardwearing, without for best looks and a special mix for a shady spot.

We also stock wild flower lawn mixtures.

Worn or damaged patches can be reseeded with patch packs including Miracle Gro Patch Magic.
