Roses

Potatoes - Vegetable Plants and Growing Vegetables

Roses are perennial plants with over 100 species – climbers, large and small bushes, or trailing plants – and a well stocked rose border can boast blooms from early summer into late autumn. Flowers can be large and showy or grouped in clusters, and the perfume of some roses is exquisite. Known for their thorny stems, there are some smooth stemmed varieties, and some roses have wonderfully dark, glossy foliage.
Lacking the vital acres to grow this group of plants, we buy these in from specialist growers. This is still a seasonal plant group but we tend to have a good range to choose from in all months except late summer.

We are stockists for the superb David Austin range of roses! These British bred roses, that combine the best features of the old varieties with those of the modern ones, are simply outstanding! We offer ‘David Austin English Roses’ as both shrubs and climbers.

Climbing and rambling roses are well represented and can provide large scented and colourful cover or you might prefer more compact miniature climbers for garden arches.

Some roses provide fabulous low maintenance ground cover! The Flower Carpet series take a lot of beating for month after month of colour.

Choose ‘special occasion’ roses to mark birthdays, weddings and anniversaries, or just to say ‘thank you’. These form the bulk of hybrid tea and floribunda roses that we sell. All roses, no matter which type, are popular gifts!

When roses are in flower in early summer we have lots of patio and miniature roses which look especially good in pots and small borders.

To give your roses the best start and to keep them in tip-top condition, we have everything you need. Bagged farm yard manure, Toprose fertiliser, Roseclear spray, gloves and best quality secateurs are always in stock and make growing roses easier. For ‘rose sick’ soils, we can supply fresh topsoil and root friendly fungi in the form of rootgrow mycorrhizae.

Rose Bushes

Snowdrops may be the harbingers of spring, and there is always a thrill in spotting the first of them, but daffodils really trumpet the news that spring has arrived! From tiny miniatures to stately standards, daffodils lift the spirits with their glowing, golden, nodding heads. Ideal for naturalising in the garden, for filling a border or for providing an early show in pots and containers, they are excellent value for money – and the more you buy the better value they are.

Once so rare that, in the Netherlands from 1636 to early 1637, a single bulb could cost more than a house, the stately, beautiful tulip can still raise "Tulipmania" in our customers. Luckily, tulips are now affordable, and excellent value for money.

The delicate purple, mauve, white or yellow cups of the crocus look good in tiny pots on your windowsill, around the base of containerised bushes and trees, or in swathes of colour across lawn or border. In fact, before the bigger bulbs hit their stride, crocuses are the way to introduce jewel-like colours into your spring garden.

We also stock autumn-flowering crocuses – good for naturalising in a sunny spot.
